Commonwealth Games Come to Strathbungo

The Glasgow 2.014 Commonwealth Games will be coming to the village of Strathbungo.

The Queen's Baton will visit the village twice on Tuesday 22nd July and is scheduled to enter the Village at Eglinton Toll at 10:40am, turning right along Albert Drive and leaving Strathbungo as it enters Pollockshields at 10:45. The Baton travels though Bellahouston, Govan, Cardonald, Crookston, Pollok, Mosspark, Pollok Park, Langside, Shawlands and Crossmyloof before re-entering Strathbungo at the western edge of the village at 17:45 before finishing at Queens Park at around 18:10.

The Games themselves will also make an appearance in the village, with the Marathon set to run through Strathbungo on Sunday 27th July, providing villagers the opportunity to cheer runners racing through the village for free and twice as the 26.2mile course consists of two laps. The Race will Start at 9:00am.
